Answers to Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: How long has Ronco Irrigation been in business?

We have been doing quality work since 1971.

Q: How long will it take to install my irrigation system?

The average home will take between a day and a day and a half to complete.

Q: Will my grass or landscaping be torn to shreds?

No. We use a vibratory plow instead of a trencher, and we hand-dig in the landscaping beds to minimize damage. There will be a very small amount of browning where the pipe is buried. With regular watering your grass will green back up within two to three weeks.

Q: Is the installation covered with a warranty?

Yes. Our warranty is two year parts and labor.

Q: What brand of products do you use?

For irrigation, we use Hunter and Rainbird primarily, but will install any brand upon request. We use Vista landscape lighting products.

Q: Will you install a rain sensor?

Yes. All of our systems come with a rain sensor. Keep in mind that if it has rained recently, your sensor will shut down your system temporarily. It will come back on and continue with the pre-set program automatically, after the water evaporates.

Q: What type of pipe do you use?

We use copper pipe at the tie-in and convert to class 200 PVC pipe in the yard.

Q: What maintainance will my system require?

You will need to call us to winterize in the early fall and in spring for a tune-up.

Q: How does the controller work?

The controller (which is installed in the garage) sends an electronic pulse to the valves allowing them to open so that water can flow to the heads. Your controller will turn on your system automatically on the day and time that has been programmed in.

Q: What is a backflow preventer?

A backflow preventer is a component of the irrigation system that is required by your county. It enables water to flow out of it, but prevents water from flowing back through. It ensures that your drinking water is safe. If your backflow preventer is above ground, you must winterize before the temperature gets below freezing. It is fragile and expensive.

Q: Will you need to come inside the house?

Most likely we will need to get inside of the basement to tie-in to the main water line for our water source. At times, we will use the outside water meter as a water source.

Q: Will you give out references?

We respect our customer’s privacy and would prefer not to disturb them. However, we will supply references upon request. Some of our clients have been, Baltimore Raven’s Stadium, The Washington Monument, and Arlington National Cemetary (including John F. Kennedy’s gravesite), Home Depot, Target, Extended Stay America, Fairfield Inn, and many restaurants, office parks, and recreation fields.
